Layers of Earth
Today we started learning about Earth's layers and also about the importance of earthworms in soil.

Wonderopolis
Today we learned about how seismologists can tell how many layers there are to our earth and what each one is made of.

How We Know What Earth is Made of
Today we watched these three videos to understand how sound waves and seismic waves from earthquakes are used to determine what the earths layers are made of. We also saw how these waves help us to understand how many layers there are. There were lots of good questions about how deep the earth was, where the deepest spot in the ocean was, and much more.

Epic Books
Today we read a book on the different layers of earth to solidify our clay model. This book has been assigned on Epic if anyone wants to go over some of the cool facts again.

Earth Primer
Today we explored the Earth Primer app. This is a paid app, but it goes through how the layers of earth interact. We explored the app during class and I have provided all of the screen shots.

Contest and Assignment
Today I shared a cool contest that the Pelee Island Bird Observatory is hosting. Students can submit a photo, draw something, or make something that represents the birds in Windsor. If students wish to submit something the can email their submission by May29th to education@pibo.ca
I also asked for students to ask guardian permission to bring a clear sandwich bag or cup of dirt to class on Friday. If this will not be possible I will also share photos of dirt on my screen.

I hope you enjoy these activities and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
