Health

Today we practiced what we have been learning about all along in health.  We did activities to give ourselves a mental break while also enjoying learning new things.  Below are all of the different activities we did to practice taking a break to do something new.

Virtual Zoo Trip

First we took a trip to the Cincinnati Zoo to learn about Kangaroos and little blue penguins.  We learned about how they live, what they eat, and some of their unique characteristics.

We didn't get to this part, but the Cincinnati suggested that students try and create their own little blue penguin like the one below.  If you would like to create a little blue penguin feel free to send me a picture of your penguin.

Wonderopolis

After the trip to the zoo we learned a new fact about space and what retrograde means.  We also got introduced to Club for the Future, where students can send postcards to space.  We will look at this activity tomorrow.

Weather Journal

We looked at the weather outside and continued our weather journal.  Some of the items we included were;

  • Date

  • Type of Weather

  • Clouds I see

  • Temperature

  • What I can do for this weather

We will be recording the weather all week and seeing if we can make a prediction about the weather.

Experiment

Today we did an experiment called the walking rainbow.  We placed our primary colours in alternating cups, and connected the colours to empty cups using paper towel.  To try this experiment at home you can click here:  https://funlearningforkids.com/rainbow-walking-water-science-experiment-kids/

We watched the video below about the Chromatography to further explore how the water could travel.  The explanation of the experiment starts around 1:15

Game

After the experiment we ended with a fun quiz game, where we talked about everything we have been learning online.  Every time a student answered correctly I added a sticker.  As you can see students were doing a great job!
