Weather and Clouds
Today we learned about different clouds in the sky. We also learned about how to keep track of the weather and started our own weather journals.

Different Spheres of Earth
To start class we looked at the different spheres of earth. We started discussing the atmosphere this past week, so I thought it would be interesting to learn about our other spheres.

Atmosphere
We then dove into the six different parts of the atmosphere so that we could explore what we will be learning about next week.

Earth’s atmosphere is similar to a jacket for our planet. It surrounds our planet, keeps us warm, gives us oxygen to breathe, and it is where our weather happens. Earth’s atmosphere has six layers: the troposphere, the stratosphere, the mesosphere, the thermosphere, the ionosphere, and the exosphere.

Epic
Today we read a book on clouds together. We looked at three main types of clouds: Cumulus, Cirrus, and Stratus. This book is also available to students on Epic books.

Cloud Game
We played a quick game of cloud watching. I displayed different photos and asked students what pictures they saw in the clouds. Feel free to look at the clouds outside or look at this picture to the left and think about what you see.

Weather Journal
Today we looked at the weather outside and started our weather journal. Some of the items we included were;

-
Date
-
Type of Weather
-
Clouds I see
-
Temperature
-
What I can do for this weather

We will be recording the weather all week next week and seeing if we can make a prediction about the weather.

I hope you enjoy these activities and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
