Wonderopolis

To start class today we looked at the questions of;

  • What is the ozone layer?

  • How do ozone-depleting substances hurt the ozone layer?

  • Can the ozone layer be saved?

Some key facts we found out was that ozone is a gas that occurs naturally in our environment, the ozone is under attack by man-made substances, and uv rays can come through even stronger in areas where the ozone has been destroyed.

Weather on Other Planets

During class today we watched the 2nd video in the series on weather on other planets.  This video looked at the weather on the 4 farthest planets to the sun.  These are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.  We learned about how cold some of these planets are as well as some of gasses on these planets cause diamonds to rain from the sky.

-Finding shade

-Wearing sunglasses

-Staying hydrated

-Reapplying sunscreen

Sun Protection Fashion Show

After learning about the different ways to protect ourselves from the sun we had a sun protection fashion show.  Students were given a few minutes to collect items that would keep them safe from the sun, and then share with their classmates.

I hope you enjoy these activities and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
